PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project aimed to create a set of eight cards that tell a cohesive story through a poem of my choice. Each card would reflect the others, maintaining a consistent look with typography and visual elements, such as photos or illustrations, to convey a unified message. The goal was to avoid clichés, think abstractly, and develop multiple interpretations of the poem.

LEARNING LENS
For this project, I selected the poem “If Your Hands Are Full of Fire,” which is abstract and open to multiple interpretations based on personal experience. It depicts a strained father-daughter relationship from the daughter's perspective, highlighting her desire for recognition and respect. I analyzed how the author described herself and used objects to convey emotions, paying attention to color associations with these feelings. To express rage and sadness in a feminine manner, I explored the Art Nouveau era, known for its emphasis on the female form, nature, and organic whimsy. This period’s aesthetic was perfect for creating a visual and emotional journey through the cards, guiding viewers’ eyes and evoking deep feelings.

FINAL SOLUTION
Art Nouveau was the inspiration for this set, but it also bears resemblance to tarot cards, which reflect one’s life. These ideas merged to create the final piece. I used warm and cool colors to let nature shine and evoke emotion through their interplay. I included elements from the author's work to represent women and highlight key words for the viewer’s understanding. The concept of a house of cards symbolized the author’s home and identity crumbling, adding depth to the narrative. I designed the piece so viewers could interpret it in any order, maintaining cohesive color and style throughout.
